Book 1, Chapter Five: Spear-won Land, Pages 89 and 90

Alexander twists between his fingers a strand of honey sunlight, an eyebrow raised,
    blue eye daring the Servant
    for a contradiction.
    “Isn’t that right?”

    The Servant pauses,
then shrugs, like the curl of a dolphin’s back
    above water.
“Ah! Thank you for the correction.”

    He coughs,
before returning to where we left off.
    “Ahem, anyway…”

    A jovial voice comes,
together with a pat on young Alexander’s shoulder.
    “Hey, appha!”

    Chapter Five 089-090

    Footnotes:

apphá (ἄπφα) – a term of endearment for siblings and beloved ones. 🙂
