Book 1, Chapter Seven: The Ascent, Pages 143 and 144
“Hm?” enquires the good verdant Servant.
He says, “As king, I know land very well.
The sky above however… it mocks me.
Boasts its unsullied country over my head,
Gay in its innocence, while I possess
The world beneath. Knowing that without flight,
I can only dream of owning the stars.”
King Alexandre reaches a hand high
Towards the midnight, clasps the illusion
Of stars in his fist. A smile creeps slowly
“But it forgets. Everything I had sought,
I had gotten. And this is no different.”
The stone in his hand shines with the ego
Of its owner, bound towards the old man.
“Now with these griffins, nothing can stop me!”
He shakes the Servant by his forearms both,
Giddy in joy like a child found a toy.
“Servant, I have a plan mad and brilliant!
And you are to help me accomplish it!”
