Yet, our kynge shall see that
no matter how and where
this story is retold
the ending is the same.
No surprise that our king finds himself
In awe at wonders below his royal feet:
Galloping clouds of gold and sparkling glimpse
Of the Ocean — his childhood fantasy,
Just within sight, as like the stars above.
His fingers grasp for the spoils before him.
But, wait. Something stirs beyond the sky,
A mural come to life, the stars reverb.
Suddenly, a great fluttering of wings
and a voice floats into Alisaunder’s mind.
It calls his name:
Alexander.
