growls Alexander angrily.
It is only due to the gods’ mercy for Nikolaos
that Alexander is held back from fisticuffs by the quick arms of Hephaestion.
Nikolaos cooes,
“Aww.
I can’t wait to destroy you,
in honour of my dear old father.
You know…
the one yours killed in battle!”
Nikolaos spits at Alexander’s feet, and then,
bids him a mocking farewell.
“We’re done.
Bye-bye, kiddo.”
Alexander breaks away from Hephaestion’s arms,
shouts at haughty Nikolaos’ back.
“I swear!
I swear by Zeus and my ancestor Heracles!
I will beat you in this race!
And one day, soon,
in your own country.
Just you wait.”
